Provivi® and Andermatt Partner to Develop and Distribute Next Generation Pest Control Solutions for East Africa
Provivi® and Andermatt Announce collaboration to develop and distribute next-generation pest control solutions for Fall Armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) and False Codling Moth (Thaumatotibia leucotreta) in East Africa.
Provivi® and Andermatt are pleased to announce a collaborative agreement for the development and commercialization of sustainable pheromone-based products in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Djibouti and Burundi. These innovative solutions target Fall Armyworm (FAW) in corn and False Codling Moth (FCM) in avocado, peppers, citrus and cut flowers.
In a groundbreaking collaboration, Provivi®, a leading provider of pheromone-based crop protection solutions, and Andermatt, one of the global leaders in biological and sustainable crop protection solutions, announce the agreement for the development and distribution of 2 new products – FAW Eco-Dispensers and FCM Eco-Dispensers – for East Africa. This collaboration integrates Provivi’s expertise in pheromone-based crop protection with Andermatt´s regional leadership integrating sustainable solutions for small, medium and large-scale farmers. Both companies aim to join forces to successfully launch these pheromone products for mating disruption.
FAW Eco Dispensers for East Africa
Fall Armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) is one of the world’s most destructive agricultural pests, threatening smallholder livelihoods, commercial farming, and regional food security. Its rapid spread and high feeding capacity have severely impacted maize production across Africa—undermining a staple crop that is vital to diets, rural incomes, agribusiness, and economic stability.
FCM Eco-Dispenser for East Africa
False Codling Moth (Thaumatotibia leucotreta) is a critical pest in East Africa’s horticulture, jeopardizing exports of avocados, citrus, capsicum, and other high-value crops. Its presence triggers
strict EU phytosanitary rejections, threatening market access revenue, and the region’s reputation as a reliable supplier—making effective FCM management a strategic necessity for sustaining growth in export agriculture.
“We are excited to support East African farmers with these technologies,” said Corey Huck, CEO of Provivi. “The Fall Armyworm solution has demonstrated success across multiple geographies, while the False Codling Moth product targets key emerging priorities in East Africa. Our collaboration with Andermatt Kenya (East Africa) reinforces our commitment to delivering innovative, safe, and effective pest management tools that help farmers protect their crops, livelihoods, and access to markets.”
Both solutions are Pheromone-based semiochemical products that show effective pest control through moth mating disruption, reducing the progeny of damaging caterpillars. “These two pheromone-based solutions address East Africa’s key agricultural pests in a targeted, sustainable way. The Fall Armyworm product protects maize, a staple crop vital for food security and rural livelihoods, while the False Codling Moth solution safeguards high-value export crops, helping farmers meet strict international standards. Both are non-toxic, species-specific, and fully compatible with other sustainable crop management practices, offering farmers an accessible and effective approach to protecting their crops and livelihoods,” said Hamish Ker, CEO of Andermatt Kenya (East Africa).
