Andermatt and Novonesis join hands to launch Cell-Tech® for soy farmers in Africa.

Agriculture plays a crucial role in Kenya’s economy and accounts for approximately 20% of the GDP. The agricultural sector employs over 40% of the total population and more than 70% in the rural areas.

Andermatt in Kenya’s history goes back to 2012. In 2018, the first distribution company was registered and became Andermatt shareholders. In April 2021, the company re-branded as Andermatt Kenya Limited. Today, Andermatt Kenya consists of a team of 20 people, boasting four dedicated sales people with an unrivaled passion for quality microbial and macrobial biocontrol solutions.

Unique to Andermatt Kenya is the macrobial production facility. Strategically located in naturally resource rich Naivasha, macrobials are reared using geothermal heating: maximising production both sustainably and efficiently.

“Natural enemies are a good source of biological control. However, it is a numbers game and natural populations need to be replenished regularly. Andermatt Kenya are proud to multiply and distribute macrobials (beneficial insect predators) to farmers both locally and globally.”

– Stephen Musyoka, General Manager, Andermatt Macrobial Production

The registration of macrobials is not yet mandatory in many countries, but in Kenya, macrobials require registration. The team was delighted to register the first solution, Phytogard (Phytoseiulus persimilis), Reg. No. PCPB (CR) 2250 in December 2022. With the imminent approval of three additional products, Andermatt Kenya is committed to expanding this offering in the near future.
