Biological solutions have become well established in Zimbabwe, with their usage increasing across a wide range of crops. Biological products are gaining recognition and acceptance among growers, not only for their added production value but also for the increased market access they offer.
Andermatt and Intaba Trading
Andermatt’s partnership with Intaba Trading was initiated in 2019, with products being first registered in 2020. Year after year, the portfolio continues to strengthen. Trust is earned, and in biological agriculture, certain key pillars must be met to establish and build that trust.
1. Quality products, that work on farm
Andermatt is globally recognized for high quality solutions. However, this recognition is meaningless if the products are not effective in local conditions: ‘Seeing is believing’. Local product trials are a continuous commitment, both for new registrations and existing product solutions.
In Zimbabwe, we are proud to have a wide range of registered products. Together with Intaba Trading, continuous solution development is constantly in progress at trial sites with multiple growers across multiple crops, including blueberries, maize, potatoes, tobacco, avocados and macadamia. The knowledge gained from each successful and unsuccessful application, builds understanding and confidence in the products.
Collaboration is key. Andermatt, Intaba Trading and farmers share on farm expertise.
2. Local expertise and IPM integration
Biological solutions are dynamic and work within an interconnected environment. Understanding crop physiology, pest life cycles and regional seasonality is crucial for successfully integrating biological solutions into established Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs. Andermatt’s partnership with Intaba Trading ensures quality solutions are tailored to meet the specific regional needs of Zimbabwean growers.
3. Solutions for Now and the Future
“Through the power of the collective expertise within the global Andermatt group, we bring you the best the world has to offer in innovative and sustainable biological solutions.”
The Zimbabwean team recognizes the need for a simplified approach to biologicals. Product driven conversations are being replaced with discussions on understanding and the relevance of biologicals. Our team is pioneering a new approach and involving growers in the process. Together they are sharing knowledge and expertise, building trust, growing confidence, and cultivating healthier crops.
